The perks of the job

On Friday the 41 Portland Place team and I were very generously treated to an evening out to celebrate the financial success of the year.

We chose to host our evening of celebrations at Vista @ The Trafalgar, Where we hired a private area nestled cosily in the corner of their roof top terrace.

Despite the drizzle we enjoyed beautiful views across Trafalgar square and the roof tops leading to the London eye and river Thames.

Adamant we were going to enjoy the views across London we took shelter under our umbrellas as we gorged on some delicious canapés and olives whilst sipping on some very fine Californian wine.

As the clouds retreated into the night the roof top terrace came alive with mood lighting and ‘cheesy chart’ music. To those who know me- this was right up my street!

It was lovely to mingle with the team at Harbour & Jones as well as spend time with my colleagues from 41 Portland Place away from the office environment.

I cant wait to see what we have instore for the Chrismas party!

Party games

Corporate events are renowned for generic schedules of the same old. Why not spice up your event with a team building activity. 41 Portland Place has seen a rise in corporate away days treating their employees to educational stimulation though a varied selection of hands on activities.
With such a versatile space at 41 Portland Place the team and I are extremely excited to host a Varity of activities this summer.
How about including a range of these activities into your event schedule- I am almost certain it will be the talk of the town amongst your delegates.

How about Twister on the Terrace?

Wine tasting in the Council Chamber?

 Balloon piñatas on the Terrace?

Zumba in the Wolfson?

Nutrition talks in the Laurie Landeau?

Which one would you pick?

Interior exterior

So we have had a beautiful weekend filled with glorious sunshine and lazy afternoons which got me thinking about the up and coming summer months filled with Olympic celebrations leading into late sunny evenings gorging on BBQ food and drinking Pimms under the moonlight.
An up and coming trend I have noticed whilst flicking though various pages of events magazines and Pinterest boards is the idea of bringing the interior to the exterior. There is nothing more lavish than replacing your dining room with your very own bespoke outside area. This summer let’s avoid the horrendous faded green plastic patio furniture and picnic plates, forget the practical and move all of our antique family air loons outside, scatter some fairy lights and candles, bring out the oversize cheese plant and use our best china for a good old knee’s up.
Need some inspiration? Look no further

If you are like myself and live in central London without a garden why not use the Terrace at 41 Portland Place? How would you transform our terrace into an interior exterior?

Pin me!

Having stumbled across the new kid on the block in the social media world Pinterest, I am well and truly hooked. Coming from a styling background I am a magpie for anything visually stimulating. I wouldn’t say I have an addictive personality however I can sit for hours ‘pinning’ beautiful images of lavish events, mouth watering recipe ideas and spectacular locations from across the globe.
Originally from across the pond, Pinterest was introduced into the UK through Chinese whispers. The clever marketing of 'invite only' access and follow up ‘you’re in’ email from ‘Ben at the Pinterest team’ makes every member feel like a social media guru.
In December 2011, the virtual pin board site became one of the top 10 social networking services with 11 million visits per week, in turn driving more traffic to retailers than Linkedin, Google+ and YouTube.
So what exactly is Pinterest? The easiest way to describe this genius idea is a virtual pin board. Members can upload images and videos known as pins, these ‘pins’ can then be easily organized and categorized on boards which then are displayed on the main page which can be discovered and re-pined by other users.
The beauty of this site is the more re-pins you get the further your brand/business name will travel. This makes a great complementary marketing platform for business's to share their ideas and show off their venues with visually outstanding images.
Below is a teaser of what Pinterest has to offer I have recently created a page for 41 Portland Place which you can view here and you can also view my personal page here.
