The lucky break

After 4 years hard study at university, 8 months of living off the remainders of my over drafts and numerous internships later, I finally found my dream occupation.

Events...

Having run events for the likes of United Colors of Benetton, Dior and The Perfume Shop. I had well and truly been bitten by the #eventsprofs bug.

I spent the next 4 months trawling though job sites, newspapers and subscribing to every possible email update to ensure I didn't miss out on the ‘dream’ job.

This is where Harbour & Jones come in... A boutique catering and events company supplying only the most prestigious and iconic venues in London with initiative and mouth watering catering and event management.

‘H&J” hosted an open recruitment session where they handpicked fun, fresh and talented individuals with a personality that not only shone on paper but in reality too.

This was my time to shine.

The opportunity to meet your potential employers without the pressure of a formal interview is a concept I really took too.

3 gruelling ‘formal’ interviews later I received the phone call every graduate waits for.

I had landed myself a job with H&J’s events team and would be based at 41 Portland Place the home for the Academy Of Medical Sciences.

As I write this blog I conclude my 5th week of my new job. Having already experienced some amazing events I have decided to start this blog not only as a way to document the progression of my career but to also share my experiences and newly found knowledge to those who work within the profession and those who wish to do so in the future.

I am by no means an expert, however the blogs I share will be from a fresh young prospective.

I look forward to sharing my journey with you as I become the #eventprof I’ve always strived to be.
